Historic 1937 PhotoOne thing I wonder is how long it took America — people only looking at photos — to understand the bridge wasn’t gray like most bridges. Color photography and color film, though in use, were still uncommon at the time. (My mom, who grew up in that era, claims people could ID colors in even black and white but I’m skeptical. Maybe they could guess but who’d guess the bridge is that incredible color?)
